Matt Scherer

Fellow

 

Matt Scherer is a fellow at Open Markets Institute. His fellowship focuses on developing policy responses to the eventual bursting of the AI bubble that does not include the taxpayer-funded bailouts of previous crises. Before coming to OMI, Matt led the workers' rights project at the Center for Democracy & Technology. Earlier in his career, he practiced employment law, representing both employers and employees. He also worked in the public sector for several years as a judicial clerk and a county-level prosecutor. He is also a noted writer and commentator on regulation of the tech sector, particularly AI. Matt received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as editor-in-chief of The Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, and a master’s degree in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
